Dear musicBwomen* Community,

During our visit of c/o Pop Convention + Festival in Cologne, we of course didn’t miss the extensive program. After the first breakfast with Music Women* Germany colleagues (picture right: Isa from musicBwomen* with Lisa from musicNDSwomen*), we watched the panel “Change is hard? About ideals and their realization” [original title: Aller Wandel ist schwer? Von Idealen und ihrer Umsetzung] (picture right).

Our Safe the Dance colleague Johanna Bauhus (also Ladies&Ladys label founder) joined Johannes Jacobi (Höme) and Ralph Christoph (co-founder c/o Pop) to talk about the need to drive change in the music industry. A big thank you goes out to Music Declares Emergency for the organization and important work <3

We also went to a cool “How to Ableton” music production workshop by Henry Lee and Ella Lalouve (thanks for your patience); learned about artist identity and social media strategies from Vanessa Patrick (PULS, BR) and met artists like Gloria Blau as a former mentee at MEWEM Networking! Our colleagues from NWR, musicNRWwomen*, hosted a great Club of Heroines* on Saturday with music by Sorayah and Ornella.

Philine Sonny created an especially beautiful and emotional atmosphere on Saturday evening. We stand behind her strong words regarding “compliments” Philine received regarding her more casual look – “very different from other women” was often said. Philine responds: A compliment that puts other women down is not a compliment. Right on!
